Satya-Inspired Journal Prompts: Fueling from Truth

Do you process through writing? Dope, me too. That's why I created 15 journal prompts to help you process the last blog post and consider how the yama of truthfulness shows up in your life, fueling, and exercise. You don't have to answer all of the questions - take what works for you and leave what doesn't. There are no right or wrong answers. However, I do ask that you lean into satya and be honest with yourself. Lying to yourself leads to misdirected energy and living out of alignment, which causes pain and suffering. Facing the truth can be challenging, but often leads to a more authentic way of living.

15 Journal Prompts to Explore Satya

🌿 Self-Expression + Identity

  1. In what areas of your life do you feel like you're wearing a “mask” or trying to be someone you’re not?

  2. If every person you knew was in the same room, would you know how to show up authentically? Why or why not?

  3. What parts of yourself feel silenced or edited around others? What would it look like to let them be seen?

🍽 Nutrition + Truthfulness

  1. What are the food “shoulds” or “should nots” that show up in your mind throughout the day?

  2. When was the last time you ate something because it truly felt nourishing (body or soul!) — not because it was what you “should” eat?

  3. How do you feel physically and emotionally when you follow your body’s hunger cues compared to when you follow external rules?

💪 Movement + Alignment

  1. Are you moving your body in ways that feel good, or in ways you think you’re supposed to?

  2. If the exercises you are currently engaging in were guarenteed not to change your body, would you still do them?

  3. What forms of movement light you up — and which ones feel forced, exhausting, or joyless?

  4. When was the last time you allowed yourself to rest without guilt? What would need to change for rest to feel aligned with your truth?

💭 Intention + Reflection

  1. Where in your life are you “should-ing” on yourself the most right now?

  2. What’s one small action you can take this week to move closer to your own truth (in nutrition, movement, or self-expression)?

  3. When you feel out of alignment, what helps you reconnect to your truth?

💗 Compassion + Ahimsa (non-violence)

  1. When sharing or uncovering your truth, how can you ensure you do so with self-compassion (ahimsa)?

  2. What would it look like to live your truth gently — without judgment or shame?
