Ahimsa-Inspired Journal Prompts: Compassionate Fueling

Processing through writing is a beautiful thing, especially with complex topics like yoga philosophy. That's why I created the following journal prompts to help you explore how ahimsa (non-violence) shows up in your fueling practices and training. My hope is that you reflect on your current practices (most people haven't!) and shine light on areas that you're already doing well with and areas you can improve on. If you want to talk about these questions further, please don't hesitate to reach out!
What words or phrases do I use to describe my body during training or recovery? Are they compassionate or critical?
When I make a fueling choice, do I speak to myself with kindness, or judgment?
How can I reframe one negative thought about my body into a compassionate, nonviolent affirmation?
What foods make me feel energized and capable during outdoor adventures?
When have I chosen food based on “shoulds” instead of what my body truly needed? How did it impact my performance?
How do I balance performance nutrition needs with pleasure and enjoyment in eating?
How do I know when my body needs rest instead of more training?
Have I ever used exercise as punishment for eating? What would the nonviolent alternative look like?
What forms of movement feel joyful and empowering in my body right now?
What boundaries can I set around training, work, and social life to ensure I’m fueling and recovering well?
If I fully practiced Ahimsa toward myself, how would my training and fueling look different?
